In times like these, it can be comforting to imagine what your dream life would look like, and it’s become a trend among Gen Zers to find inspiration in an unlikely figure. They’re using Kris Jenner to manifest their dreams of more money and a better career, just like the mogul did for herself, and science seems to be on their side.

People are facing many challenges related to finances and career growth right now. Gen Z, the latest generation to join the workforce and try their hand at “adulting,” is feeling this struggle especially keenly, with a significant number reporting feelings of sadness and hopelessness.

A new Kris Jenner manifestation technique has really taken hold for Gen Zers in China.

The Instagram account China Minutes, which shares news related to the country, recently made a post about the unique twist Chinese Gen Zers are taking on manifestation. These young adults are changing their profile pictures on social media and backgrounds on various devices to pictures of Kris Jenner, the matriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner clan.

For people who aren’t super familiar with Jenner’s story, this may sound pretty strange, but she has major business skills to back her up. Aside from the money and fame she has garnered from “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Jenner also has lucrative investments and endorsements, and gets management fees from her kids’ brands. Her net worth is estimated to be over $200 million.

China Minutes noted that “her image is being used as a symbol of wealth and career ambition” because of “her reputation for building a multi-billion dollar business and operating strategically behind the scenes, making her a recognizable figure of calculated success.” Although many see her as a polarizing figure, you can’t deny that she’s been successful.

Visualization is a proven manifestation method supported by neuroscience.

Visualization has been a popular form of manifestation for quite some time now and is particularly popular with people who feel connected to spirituality. The writers at The Secret blog explained, “Those thoughts and feelings emit a powerful frequency out into the Universe, and the Law of Attraction then takes hold of that signal and returns your visualization back to you as your brand new reality.”

For anyone who considers themselves a skeptic, there’s also scientific evidence to back this up. Stanford University neurosurgery professor James Doty studied and wrote about the topic extensively. He believes that manifestation creates new neural pathways, a process known as neuroplasticity, because it moves people from their stressed sympathetic nervous system to their calmer parasympathetic nervous system.

In 2023, a group of researchers put manifestation to the test and published their findings in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. They concluded that manifestation really does little to actually make someone more successful, but it does increase people’s confidence. So, it may not be the most effective method, but it does prove helpful in some ways.

There’s no word on whether Jenner is aware of her role in the new trend, but she would probably like it.

Based on the data from the study, about one-third of people believe in the power of manifestation. Apparently, Jenner is one of them herself. In an interview with MasterClass, she addressed her use of vision boards, saying, “Just using the visuals really helped me see something come to life, and I think that’s equally as important in business.”

On an episode of the podcast "Not Skinny But Not Fat," Jenner also shared, “Between my prayer, my spirituality, and my manifestation, I try to cover all the bases.”

So, Gen Zers’ use of Jenner’s image to manifest is probably not only neuroscience-approved, but would also get a thumbs-up from the legend herself. They likely won’t all end up with bank accounts that look like the Kardashians’, but hopefully, the increase in confidence alone will be beneficial on their journeys.
